Maurice

Why did I knit a penguin? Because he was there. Or at least the cute pattern was. I named him Maurice because that "March of the Penguins" movie is French.

I LOVE it. Please send me a copy of the pattern. Please oh please. My whole family is really into penguins. We haven't seen "march" yet - cause we know it's going to be sad. We have plans to go Monday night.

Whit, here's the link to the pattern, http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTpasha.html I used a fuzzier yarn just because I liked it better. And when he was done I didn't like the shape of the beak, so I spiraled a running stitch of the yellow yarn from the tip round and round to the base of his beak, pulling it taut as I went until I got the beak the shape I wanted. I was going to put larger buttons on him for eyes, but Cyndy says she likes his "beady little eyes", so I'm going to leave him alone. I have plenty of yarn left over so I'm giving it to her so she can knit one. The pattern uses a few terms that I wasn't used to, but I went to the glossary they include and the ones I couldn't figure out I faked, lol.

Don't be afraid to see the movie, it does have some sad part, but it has alot of joyous, funny parts too. You come out of the theater amazed at nature and glad you don't live at the South Pole in winter!

If it's still showing here Monday, we're headed that way. I love the beak and "beady little eyes" !!
