Do you Bento?

One of my fellow Crackpats (thanks, Maureen!)recently posted about Bento, the absurdly cute lunches that Japanese mothers compete to pack for their offspring. Adults can have Bento, too, but it's the kids that seem to get the masterpieces. These moms get up at the crack of dawn to toil away with vegetable peelers, knives, rice and egg molds, and a dazzling array of other culinary tools and props. I find this fascinating, since despite my love of cooking, I'm doing good most mornings to just get out of the house more or less respectably dressed. I don't have time to fuss with it now, but after my trip to China and the holidays are behind me, then I just may get myself some of those cute tools and a Bento box and give it a try.
